Get Up, Get Out, Get Active
Every Step Counts 10,000 Steps

Families

Joint activities are a great way to increase the amount of physical activity of both adults and children. Kids need at least 1 hour of moderate physical activity per day and adults need at least 30 minutes. But remember that more is better.

There are many benefits of being an active family:

  • Active children are more likely to become active adults.

  • Helping young children to develop good eating patterns and enjoyment from sport and exercise may help them avoid later health problems.

  • "Exercise helps children to develop social (sharing, taking turns, cooperating and learning about winning and losing) and physical skills (running, eye-hand coordination and ball skills)." • Parents get the benefits of being active too!
